To meet the needs of our growing pipeline and the external environment, AstraZeneca is investing in a new Centre of Excellence to support our Health Technology Assessment (HTA) efforts around the world. Based in our global Barcelona hub, we have exciting opportunities for skilled and daring statisticians to work with the following therapy areas: Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolism; Respiratory & Immunology; and Vaccines & Immune Therapies.
What you’ll do
This team will be part of a multi-disciplinary group, including payer evidence and market access specialists, health economic modelers, and programmers. By applying your expertise in statistics, you will be helping us to demonstrate the value of our products and shape the payer environment by creating and delivering highly valued market access solutions that unlock the potential of our life-changing medicines for patients around the world. With the growing use of HTA, including the upcoming Joint Clinical Assessment in Europe, you will play an important role in shaping what we do and the ways of working.
For our Associate Director role, we are looking for the following:
Ability to program autonomously in R and/or SAS according to strict timelines
Experience from analyzing randomized clinical trials (e.g., familiarity with CDISC) or other aspects of pharmaceutical development (e.g., real-world studies)
Ability to write and review statistical analysis plans
Support market access strategies by providing critical input regarding appropriate statistical approaches and address specific questions of interest for payers and other collaborators
Ability to lead the development of plans to analyze internal or external information in collaboration with cross-functional teams and take responsibility for analysis design and results interpretation
Ability to evaluate and compare results from internal studies, and external studies, by applying indirect comparison methodology in accordance with existing HTA guidelines and requirements
Implement, interpret, and present analysis results to a range of cross-functional audiences and act as subject-matter expert in interactions with external suppliers
Publication experience and ability to present at internal forums to increase awareness of existing and novel statistical methodology
MSc or PhD or equivalent experience in Biostatistics, Statistics, or Mathematics (with a substantial statistical component)
For our Director role, we require the following in addition to what is listed above:
Efficiently communicate complex statistical concepts to colleagues with different areas of expertise
Deep understanding of health economic models and experience of HTA and payer analyses in the reimbursement process, including an understanding of survival modelling
Experience of analysis of health utility data including mapping and value set application
Experience from teaching or tutoring statistics or mathematics and ability to mentor more junior staff members
